My name is Khemkham Keonouchan. I've been in Honolulu for about three years. Prior to the 2026 Kona Low storms, I was a laborer in Waialua and I earned my living making lei that we sold across Oahu.
When the storms hit, I lost everything. My home was completely flooded and water came up to my chest. I lost 100% of my belongings, including my car - which I relied on for transportation and earning income. At the moment I am staying with a friend while I figure out what to do next and how to get back home to Vientiane, Laos.
At the moment I am very overwhelmed and feel trapped. I have no money and no resources. The lack of security and worry about the future is extremely difficult. Because of the loss, I feel that the best decision is to go home and start over in Laos. The money I had before was used to survive and most of it went towards acquiring and maintaining our car. Now that the car is gone, I think it is best to start over and go back to Laos.
The funds I raise here will go to immediate emergency support so I can survive. I am down to my last $200 so any support I receive is deeply appreciated.
