Help Khaliun and Her Family Return Home
In late December last year, as a special family trip, Khaliun brought her parents and brother to the USA for a vacation. She wanted to share with them some of her sights that she had seen previously.
This all went sideways when Covid 19 hit. Once they realized that they it could be quite a while before they could go home, Khaliun, being the only one who could legally work here, found part-time work. But with subsequent shut-downs of restaurants and other small businesses, her work stopped. Expecting to return to Mongolia in early February, they were shocked to find that the international borders were closed and international flights were canceled. They have been stuck in the USA never guessing it would be for 5 ½ months! With no other source of income, my financial support helped with their housing and food expenses.
They have spent the last 5 ½ months trying to find a way home! A special repatriation flight has just been scheduled with MIAT airlines! “On June 1st the Mongolian Cabinet decided to provide humanitarian assistance worth US $1 million to the United States of American to help our country dope with COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. has requested that the assistance be directed to protecting doctors and staff working on the front line of the outbreak.”

"Therefore, the protective clothing and equipment worth $1 million will be delivered on a charter flight on June 21st. On its return, the MIAT chartered flight will repatriate over 250 Mongolian nationals back from Seattle. “
After many disappointments with canceled flights or seat unavailability, they have finally found seats on this flight leaving Seattle on June 23rd! Since their previous return tickets could not be refunded, the extreme cost of the return flight and the added costs for the quarantine expenses upon arrival far exceeds their ability to pay. The airline tickets are $2,500. per person! They need your help!
Once they arrive back in Mongolia, they will be in quarantine for 21 day in a hotel at their own expense. That follows with another 14 days quarantine at home. Since no one in the family has had any work for nearly 6 months, they are scrambling to find ways to help with this financial burden.
They really need your help meeting this need!
In 2014-2015 Khaliun became the first Mongolian exchange student to share my home for her high school senior year. One of her special school events was a solo performance in a choir concert. She had many wonderful experiences visiting the San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker, Sedona, Arizona, the Grand Canyon and Seattle. Beaches, parks, tourist attractions and tasty food emporiums filled her days. She graduated from high school and returned to Mongolia to continue her university education.
In her teens Khaliun started a support group for disabled children. She sought donations for art supplies, books and games for the kids to play with. These children had little support outside of this group. This program was a real blessing for them. Now she has graduated with degree in Psychology with a focus on becoming a therapist working with art therapy.
