In this next step of our lives together, Sara and I wish to aid the Rajabii family in theirs. In celebration of our formal union, we ask those who are in the gifting spirit to do so by donating to Khalid Rajabii.
I have known my dear friend Khalid Rajabi since our time working together in 2012, during Operation Enduring Freedom in Zabul, Afghanistan. 1st Platoon, C-Troop, 1-14 Cav, 3-2 ID. During our time together, Khalid was known throughout the base as being the most professional and hard-working of all our interpreters. Countless times, Khalid volunteered to go out for an additional mission, many times after just getting back to base. He provided critical services to our military men and women who were stationed on the base. Khalid always performed his mission with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail.
Khalid Rajabi was much more than an interpreter, though. He is an extremely kind and intelligent individual who has a deep love and respect for his fellow man. The majority of my platoon became close with Khalid. We all spent a lot of time discussing everything from the direction of his country and people to American sitcoms and tastes in music. Above all, his service to our nation, and to the men and women I served alongside, was of the highest caliber.
Since our time serving together, we have continued to stay in touch. Khalid had been working with American companies in Afghanistan. He worked his way up to being a Parts Manager. Unfortunately, for having helped coalition forces, Khalid and his family continually face great risks, not only to his safety but that of his wife and young son. Despite the danger they face, Khalid has not wavered in his commitment to seeing positive change in the world around him. They remain optimistic about life and the future of our world. As parents, they strive to create a safe life for their son. Khalid is a good and honest man, having risked his life countless times for my platoon. I want nothing more than to see him and his young family live a safe and prosperous life.
Khalid has recently received consideration for a US Special Immigration Visa, which includes his wife and young son. However, with no longer having a US Embassy in Afghanistan, they are unable to finalize the process unless Khalid and his family gain additional means to do such. Through the gifting of donations, we hope to deliver the needed aid for the Rajabis to finalize their visas and set up their new home in the United States.
