Help Khady to pay her tuition at UIC

Hi, I’m Oriane and I’m organizing this fundraiser to help my friend Khady to pay for her spring and fall tuition at UIC! Khady is an international student from France studying business. She has been attending UIC since 2022 and she can no longer cover the cost of her tuition due to financial hardship. Khady has been looking for help all around her and we are running out of option and time.

As an international student she is not allowed to work outside of campus which makes it even harder for her to make money. She’s been applying to on campus job but never got any.

A few words from her:

« My name is Khadija, I am a 24 year old international student from France that has been living in Chicago for the past 3 years and a half. Growing up, I was obsessed with English and weirdly attracted to the U.S. . To me, it was nothing but logical to come study here after graduating from high school. I was blessed enough to gather funds, get accepted into a school, pack my bags and pay farewell to my family and friends. COVID-19 hit after only 2 months of me starting school at Harold Washington city college, leading to the cost of my tuition doubling despite the classes being remote. Unfortunately, the funds that I was able to gather quickly evaporated after 3 semesters. 

My superpower is my ability to surround myself with amazing, caring, loving and thoughtful individuals. Through hard times, I was able to rely on my “aunt”, my amazing American mother and parents who I wish didn’t have to spend a dime on me because they can not afford to. I received my associates degree with honors and transferred to UIC a year and a half ago. I am one semester away from graduating with a 3.4 GPA. I have been struggling with paying my tuition since the spring 2023. In order to register for the fall I was given a few day to reduce my balance. I had to act quickly before being dropped out. I was fortunate enough to once again find people who lend me money in order to pay. 

I was expecting a scholarship that would’ve pay for my semester but ended up only receiving only a small portion. I am grateful for the money but it is regrettably not enough for me to move on, graduate and close this chapter of my life. 

My friends pushed me to realized that the world was filled with special individuals who help people in difficulties out and suggested that we organize this GoFundMe to help me. »

As of today, September 5th, 2023, Khady owes a grand total of $16,000 to UIC and $20,000 to numerous people that she lended money from.

By borrowing people money all around, Khady has lot of people to pay back which is what part of this fund will be used to.

Today we really ask for your help in order to help Khady graduate, pay her debts to the school, and to the people.
