Hi Friends, I'm helping a local, young single mom get back on her feet by starting this GoFundMe for her. She reached out in a local Mamas FB group for help with housing ideas, and I offered to set this up as a means to help her bridge the gap to find housing and work so that she is not forced into homelessness with her young son.
Every amount and share helps. Thank you!
Here's her story....
Hi, my name is Khadjha.
I’m a single mom to a toddler, and right now we are facing the very real possibility of homelessness mid-February.
I don’t have a car, and I’ve been actively working to stabilize our situation while caring for a young child. I’ve been on housing waitlists, reaching out to local resources, applying for opportunities, and doing everything I can to keep us afloat. Despite my efforts, nothing has come through in time yet, and the urgency is growing.
This situation isn’t about a lack of effort. It’s about how difficult it has become for single parents to stay stable, even when they are doing everything right.
This fundraiser is meant to help us bridge this gap and cover immediate, stabilizing needs so I can secure safe housing, maintain consistency for my toddler, and continue working toward long-term stability without the fear of losing our footing entirely.
I want to be transparent about what this support is helping with. The amount I’m trying to reach reflects the basic cost of living for a single mom and toddler in the Asheville area while I work to secure stable housing and get back on solid ground.
Funds from this campaign will help cover:
• Housing costs, including rent and a potential security deposit
• Utilities and essential household setup
• Groceries and basic household supplies
• Transportation so I can get to work and appointments
• Childcare support while I pursue work opportunities
• Clothing and basic needs for my toddler
I also want to be clear that I am actively seeking work and open to opportunities, not just financial support. I have experience and availability for:
• Childcare and mother’s helper roles
• Customer service (remote or in-person, depending on location)
• Administrative support, scheduling, and organization
• Errands, light cleaning, organizing, and household help
• Pet care and related support
I am reliable, communicative, and motivated to work within the realities of caring for a toddler.
If you are able to help, whether by donating, sharing this with someone who may have an opportunity, or reaching out with a lead, it truly means more than I can express. Community support is the reason we are still standing, and I am deeply grateful.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
If you feel moved to share this, it helps more than you know.
