My name is Hanen, and I’m the aunt of baby Khadija, a beautiful girl born on 23/10/2024 and after 11 long years of waiting and prayers by my sister and her husband. Her arrival brought incredible joy to our lives. But that joy quickly turned into heartbreak when, at just 4 months old, we discovered she was profoundly deaf in both ears.

After countless hearing tests, we received confirmation: Khadija has bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Even with hearing aids, she cannot hear a single sound ,not her mother’s voice, not music, not laughter. She has been living in a world of silence since birth

The only solution is a cochlear implant, that will change her life completely.

The ideal time for this surgery is at one year of age.

This is when speech development and rehabilitation can begin early, allowing a child to build language and cognitive skills and catch up on the time already lost.

The latest recommended age for this surgery is one and a half years. Every delay after the first year makes rehabilitation harder and directly affects speech and cognitive development.

Khadija is now one year and two months(and 10days) old. We are still within the critical window, but every day of delay reduces her chance to develop speech like other children.. The sooner she receives her implant, the better her chance to hear, speak, and learn.

Sadly, our health insurance denied coverage, calling it a “pre-existing condition.” I have taken responsibility for supporting my family financially since my father passed away over 10 years ago, and I’ve done all I can to help — paying for hearing tests, bloodwork, neurological scans, and doctor visits. But the cost of the surgery is simply beyond us.

The full cost is 320,000 AED ($87,000 USD), which includes:

• The cochlear implant internal and External Processor

• The surgery and hospital stay

• 6 months of post-surgery activation and programming

Since I live in a country where GoFundMe is not supported, a close friend in the USA is hosting this fundraiser on my behalf. He will withdraw the funds and transfer them directly to us to pay for the surgery.
