Hello! My name is Keyleigh, 23yrs, and I am looking for some help to afford an Active Wheelchair.
I have Hypermobility Ehrles-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and over the last few years the chronic pains and fatigue have greatly worsened. It has been such a journey with the NHS with multiple X-Rays, Medications and Bloodtests, but I have finally found a lovely Rheumatologist who understands and has massively helped me and diagnosed me with hEDS. Upon discussion with him a few weeks ago, he recommended a wheelchair to help me through rough flare-ups and for outings that require a lot of walking to help reduce pains and further damage to my joints.
After our appointment I decided to look into active wheelchairs and different models, but discovered that they are quite pricey. Due to my condition I am only able to work part-time and am unable to afford such an expense by myself. I did apply for Personal Independent Payment (PIP) back in March 2025, but after being declined twice now I am losing hope on being accepted and helping me pay for a wheelchair.
A lot of my friends reassured me and recommended that GoFundMe was a great option to help.
This wheelchair will leave me more room for freedom and independence than what my SMART crutches provide, and will help me continue going out with friends and to places I enjoy without being in a constant state of pain and discomfort.
All donations are greatly appreciated, thank you for reading!
