Help Kevin's Family During his Medical Crisis

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Mandy Adrian Ramsey and I am fundraising for Kevin Allen and his family. Kevin and I have been friends since we were 3 years old when he knocked on my door asking for some kids to play with. Kevin has never met a stranger, he probably considers your parents his own calling them mom or dad or pops, he loves and cares for his friends and would give you the shirt off his back. He is in desperate need of prayers as he is fighting for his life.

In March, Kevin underwent brain surgery for what the doctors believed was a tumor and very likely cancer. The pathology report did not show cancer, but his doctor was not convinced. 3 months later he went in for follow up scans and an MRI. On the Monday after Father's Day, Kevin drove to Dallas for the appointment with his doctor. The report was all clear! But that amazing news was short lived. Kevin got in his car to drive home, but before he was out of Dallas he started to see flashes. Knowing this was similar to the episode in March, he pulled over and called 911. The ambulance took him to Baylor. When he reached the hospital he had a full seizure that lasted for a couple of minutes. Following the seizure, Kevin struggled to regain his respiratory function. The staff quickly intubated him. Over the last week Kevin has been completely sedated and struggling in ICU. He has pancreatitis, he's spiked a fever a couple of times but the cultures have not revealed a specific infection. On Monday, June 28, for an unknown reason, Kevin's blood started hemolyzing, causing him to need two liters of blood. He is also on dialysis. Tuesday he was stable like he was on the Sunday before. Thursday night was a good night. The goal now is to slowly wean him off of the sedation and remove the tube. We ask you to pray specifically that he is able to remain calm so they can remove the tube. Pray he is able to breathe completely on his own. Pray his blood pressure remains stable. Pray for full recovery.

Kevin's wife, Jamie, is trying to be at the hospital as much as possible, but she's also trying to show up for work. She has help with the kids, but is understandably stressed about continually asking for help.

This last year, COVID made work difficult for Kevin. With events cancelled, his position was not needed. Kevin had just started working with a roofing company when he was struck with this medical emergency. Brain surgery in March, over a week and a half in ICU on a ventilator and dialysis, asking with whatever rehab he will need will add up to enormous medical bills. I pray that we can rally around Jamie, the kids, his mother, and everyone else close to him to ease some of the stress this has caused.

We hope that you can give a little or a lot to lighten the burden on Kevin's family. If you are able please give. If you are not, please share this and add comments with your favorite stories of Kevin (there are so many!). If you have time to give, please contact me so we can organize help for Jamie around the house.

And above all else know that the power of prayer is mighty. All of us praying together with just the faith of a mustard seed can move this mountain in Kevin's life. He's a fighter. And he's incredibly stubborn. Those are good qualities for such a time as this.

Be blessed. I'll update as I can.
