Please help Kevin Wood Battle Stage 4 Liver Cancer

My name is Jamie, and I am organizing this GoFundMe fundraiser for my dearest friend’s son, Kevin. We have known Kevin, now 32 years old, since he was 8 years old. I have many fond memories of Kevin growing up, camping with our family, trick or treating in the neighborhood (always came to my house first for hot chocolate), skateboarding in the neighborhood and playing hockey.

In May 2023, Kevin started experiencing severe headaches and issues with his vision. During a routine eye exam in early June, it was discovered that Kevin had lost vision out of the right side of both of his eyes and was referred to emergency care. After multiple x-rays, CT scans, PET scans, and MRI’s it was determined that Kevin had several tumors in his brain as well as in his liver and lungs. A biopsy determined that the tumors were malignant, and Kevin received the devastating news that he is diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer which has metastasized to his brain.

Since his diagnosis Kevin has started a very aggressive treatment program. He started Chemotherapy on June 30th, and immunotherapy shortly thereafter. He is also being evaluated for potential brain surgery to de-bulk one of the larger brain tumors. His doctors are positive and remain hopeful and Kevins spirits have been as good as can be expected given the circumstance. However, since starting Chemotherapy he has been unable to work and has no other source of income.

All funds received will be used to help offset Kevin’s medical expenses, travel costs associated with treatment and daily living expenses while he is undergoing treatment and not able to work. Due to the nature of Kevins treatments, it is anticipated that he will require extended time off work and therefore I am seeking to raise $25,000 or more for this fundraiser.

We would be incredibly humbled and grateful for any financial assistance received through this fundraiser to help secure Kevin’s financial stability during this rough journey.
