My nephew Kevin is a second-year student in England, working hard to build a future for himself and his family. His mother, my cousin, made great sacrifices to send him to college, selling pieces of real estate to cover his first year’s fees. She hoped to do the same for his second year, but the economic situation in Kenya has made it impossible to find a buyer for her remaining plots. Despite these challenges, Kevin’s college offered a payment plan in three installments. The first payment was made possible through the generosity of family and friends, but raising the funds for the second and third payments has become much harder. Our family has given what we can, and now we are reaching out for help. I live in the USA and support my own family through Social Security and gig work, while my wife’s income is just enough to cover our needs. We want to do more, but we simply can’t manage this on our own. If the remaining fees aren’t paid on time, Kevin risks being sent home and losing his chance to complete his education at a reputable college. He has only one more year after this, which is an internship year with no fees. If he is forced to leave now, all the sacrifices and money spent so far will be lost, and he will miss out on a life-changing opportunity. I am appealing to the kindness of people everywhere to help Kevin stay in school and finish what he started.
