Help Kevin Smith after his House Fire

Renowned jazz bassist, Kevin Smith, was the victim of a devastating fire at his home on Sunday, July 11th. The Fire Department graciously retrieved his upright basses from the house, which were miraculously unharmed thanks to being in cases, but sadly those were the only possessions that were salvaged from the blaze.

While we are all grateful that Kevin was not physically injured, this unfortunate accident comes at a difficult time as many musicians are trying to get back out to work. We are starting this GoFundMe Campaign to raise money for Kevin to help him replace his music gear, amps, cables, stage clothes, and computers so that he can continue working and making his gigs while he picks up the pieces and looks for a new living situation.

To all those in the Atlanta Jazz Community and beyond who care for Kevin or have been touched by his incredible Music and Spirit, we ask you to chip in anything you can to help him out during this difficult time. For those who would rather not contribute money directly, Kevin could also benefit from leads on a new, affordable housing situation and/or daytime employment. He is also accepting gift cards to Publix, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Big & Tall stores. If you would like to make a non-cash contribution, please contact Kevin directly by email.
