Kevin Rowe’s Journey: A Call for Support
As many of you know, Kevin’s life has been shaped by incredible challenges and blessings. At the age of 19, he battled a severe infection that attacked his heart, leading to the need for a heart transplant. On June 4, 1994, he received that life-saving transplant. During his recovery, his family, especially his mother Lila, was facing her own battle with cancer. Tragically, Lila passed away in January of 1995, but Kevin was blessed with a second chance at life.
That second chance allowed Kevin to pursue his dreams—he went to college, got married, had two beautiful daughters, and became a truck driver. He’s forever grateful to the family of his heart donor for their selfless gift, which has given him 30 extra years of life.
Sadly, Kevin’s journey is far from over. Doctors recently confirmed that he needs a second heart transplant, along with a kidney transplant. As he was undergoing the approval process for these transplants, he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. This diagnosis has led to him being temporarily removed from the transplant list, with no certainty of when he might be eligible to return.
Kevin is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In the first week of treatment, he had a chemo port placed, but shortly after, he began feeling extremely weak and was unable to walk. An ambulance was called, and Kevin was admitted to the ICU for two weeks. The situation was critical, but thanks to immediate antibiotics and expert care from doctors and nurses for two weeks, he is now recovering at home. His chemo port also became infected and had to be removed.
Though he’s out of the hospital now, Kevin continues to regain his strength while managing his radiation treatments. At this time, it’s uncertain whether he’ll be able to continue with further chemo or return to work.
We are incredibly grateful for the prayers, support, and love from family, friends, and all who have reached out. Kevin’s fight isn’t over, but with your continued support and prayers, we know he can keep pushing forward. Any contribution, whether financial or in the form of prayers, will help us through this challenging time. Anyone who does not want to donate financially towards his rising health care costs by Gofundme can also donate by Venmo at @krowebar10.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With love,
