I am deeply saddened to share the harrowing incident involving my son Kevin. Early Saturday morning, my son had finished his meal and proceeded to the parking lot. As he glanced over, he witnessed a violent brawl unfolding. It is crucial to note that he was not involved in any way with this altercation. Unfortunately, while momentarily turning his back, an individual wearing BRASS KNUCKLES approached him from behind and ruthlessly knocked out four of his teeth.
At 12:14 AM on Saturday morning, I received a frantic call from my 15-year-old son, informing me that he was en route to the hospital due to the severe assault he had just endured. It's important to mention that he had been granted a curfew extension until midnight that night. Prior to the incident, I had messaged him, reminding him that he was ten minutes late for curfew. He responded at 12:10, explaining that he was finishing his meal at In-N-Out Burger and would be on his way home by 12:12. I replied, "OK buddy, call me if you need anything. Be safe." Sadly, at 12:14 AM, I received the distressing call that shattered our night, leading us to spend the remainder of it in the hospital.
The following morning, after visiting a dentist to have one of the remaining teeth wired back in place, we returned to In-N-Out Burger to speak to the managers and were able to retrieve my son's teeth from the parking lot.
The road to recovery for my son is arduous and costly. It is estimated that it will take around nine months and $15,000 for his once-perfect teeth to be replaced with implants. He will require surgery to remove the remaining fragments of roots embedded in his gums. Furthermore, bone grafting in his jaw will be necessary to provide a foundation for the implants. Ultimately, there is a high probability that he will need to undergo orthodontic treatment once again.
I have no idea how, but my poor boy is not hateful or spiteful about this. He remains in good spirits, but my heart is shattered!
