Help Kevin Recover from a Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
On August 31, 2024 Kevin Smith was in a devastating road biking accident which resulted in a traumatic brain injury and multiple broken bones. Within hours of the accident, he was airlifted to Swedish Hospital, where he has been since the end of August. During the last week of September, he was transferred to Craig Hospital, where he will continue his rehabilitation. Although the journey ahead is long, his family and friends have faith that Kevin’s physical and mental strength will prevail.

To know Kevin is to love him. His larger-than-life personality and positive outlook on life are truly contagious. He is a dedicated family man who beams with pride whenever he talks about his daughters, Skylar (18), Sierra (17), and Sophia (15). He has been a loving husband to his wife, Jeanie for 21 years. The loyalty that Kevin exhibits to friends and family knows no bound; he is always the first to offer a helping hand, offer words of encouragement or guidance, or show his love. His sense of humor is unmatched, capable of making anyone laugh and providing humor in any situation.

During this incredibly difficult time, his family has been relying on the support of loved ones. Kevin's employer, Lockton, has also been very supportive. As the family looks ahead, there are many uncertainties. Kevin is currently confused and having difficulty understanding his surroundings. According to the doctors his recovery could take six months to a year which could put a significant financial strain on his family. During this time Jeanie is unable to work, as she needs to be by his side and care for their daughters. Additionally, Jeanie is facing her own health challenges, which is preventing her from working full-time.

I am reaching out to friends, family, co-workers, and my community to ask for your support. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards:

• Medical expenses not covered by insurance for both Jeanie and Kevin. Kevin will need intense therapy and ongoing rehabilitation, which often involves services not covered by traditional insurance.
• Living expenses for Jeanie and the girls.
• Potential costs associated with maintaining health insurance if Kevin is unable to return to work.
• Additional unexpected costs associated with rehabilitating a traumatic brain injury

The financial strain associated with caring for Kevin and his family is weighing heavily on Jeanie. Any support during this time would be deeply appreciated and would allow Jeanie to focus fully on Kevin’s recovery as well as the well-being of the family.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give, and please continue to keep Kevin in your thoughts and prayers.

With deep love and gratitude.
