Hello, my name is Kevin Paredes. I’m a father in the fight of my life to protect my son. Since the day he was born in April 2015, I’ve been committed to giving him the safety, stability, and love every child deserves.

But our journey has been filled with painful obstacles, from my own incarceration and rebuilding my life, to learning that my son has faced instability, neglect, and unsafe environments in his mother’s care. Despite my efforts to provide structure, stability, and therapy, I’ve been shut out, alienated, and left to fight a system that seems stacked against fathers like me.

I currently share 50/50 custody, but my son’s life in his mother’s care has been filled with instability : repeated school absences, unsafe housing conditions, nights without proper meals, and constant disruptions to his education and therapy.

Every time I’ve tried to raise these issues: with CPS, schools, or the courts — I’ve been ignored or blocked by legal maneuvers. Most recently, my son was hospitalized after a mental health crisis. He asked to live with me full-time, but his mother immediately filed new orders and has kept him from me since September 6, 2025.

I haven’t seen or spoken to him since. I have court on October 6, and I’m terrified of what will happen if I don’t have proper representation.

I’ve fought as hard as I can on my own, but I’ve reached the limit of what I can do without help. I need:

• Legal representation to ensure my son’s voice and best interests are heard.

• Therapy and support resources for my son so he can heal.
