Help Kevin Cox, DK Excavating Fight Cancer

Someone I work closely within the construction industry has been having one heck of a fight against his Stage 2c melanoma cancer. He went through radical surgery by removing his lower lip, taking a tendon and arteries from his left arm to rebuild his face, then they took a skin graft off his leg to patch up his arm and removed all his lymph nodes from his neck.

Unfortunately, his graft site now has cancer, they figure they missed some microscopic cells and it’s an aggressive cancer. Kevin was on immune therapy for 3 months after surgery and up until they found the cancer. They determined the therapy isn’t working because being on it should never have had a reoccurrence. Basically, they are telling him his cancer hides very well from his immune system.

The only option he had left here is a clinical trial with the same drug he is on now that isn't working or try another radical surgery like the last one but this time including shaving his lower jaw and removing his bottom teeth, as well as taking arteries from his leg and other tenons from his other arm but not very hopeful.

What was suggested to him is that they need to fight the cancer where it starts and get his body fighting it from the inside instead of cutting and cutting. He needs to go for dendritic cell treatment. Basically, they take his cells out of his blood and take a sample of his tumour and introduce the dendritic cells so that my body knows what to fight. The issue with the treatment he had here is the cancer is hiding from his immune system, so they need to train his body to fight the cancer. So that’s why this treatment should be effective, they take a sample of my tumour and take the MRNA data from it and train my cells to look for it and kill them.

The place is called Immunocine, a U.S. company but they can practice in Mexico because they have better healthcare laws. They are having really good results with this treatment. They have patents on the tech, been doing it for 10 years in India.

The cost of this treatment is $95,301 CAD. I know this because I have physically seen the receipt. Kevin has had to borrow money against his business and other people. I would love to see us come together to give him some hope so that he doesn't have to worry about his business or his young family! As you can imagine this has been extremely draining emotionally and physically on him and his family.

Kevin has always been one to help others and has a hard time asking for help, that's why I wanted to step in and try and do something. I couldn't imagine having to come up with this huge amount of money in order to try and save your life.

For those of you who don't know much about Melanoma cancer, if it gets to Stage 3, it can spread very quickly to other places in your body. It's not a very forgiving cancer unless we get to it quickly.

Kevin leaves next Wednesday for this treatment.
