Help Kevin Fix what the Tumor Destroyed

Hello I am Jennifer Smith, Kevin Plummer's sister and I am ask you to help me help him.
On Monday October 4,2021 I took my brother to the eye Dr because he started having double vision and having migraines off and on for 4 months. The dr noticed some ruptured blood vessels and a few other issues that caused concern and he sent us straight to the ER. That evening an MRI showed a baseball size Brain Tumor and lots of brain swelling. The neurosurgeon at the local hospital said it urgently needed to be removed but they were not equipped to do the surgery. We spent 2.5 long days of calling hospitals and being told over and over that they would not take Kevin’s case and only being told ‘I’m sorry, we can’t help you. No one would advice us or give direction on what to do. They only gave us words of I am so sorry, like those words were helping save his life!
Wednesday evening after reading about the Neurological department and calling we felt that Research Medical Center was where we needed to be. We took him to the ER and Kevin developed yet another symptom. His legs became very weak and he was having difficulty standing let alone walking. they admitted him after further testing. Thursday we met Dr Matthew Pierson who took on Kevin’s case and told us all the possibilities of what could go wrong and he gave us all the details of what he would do to remove this huge tumor carefully to cause the least amount of damage.
He did tell us that the person Kevin had become was most likely because of this tumor. It had effected his attitude, decision making, perspective of things, personality, aggression, reasoning, processing of things had all been effected because of the location of the tumor. It was growing and pressing against the Frontal Lobe. We also found out that this tumor was very slow growing and affecting all aspects of his life for a few years.
On Friday Dr Pierson, after a 7hr surgery, successfully removed the tumor and is confident that it is not cancer and is a Grade 1 Meningioma. We are still waiting on the pathology report to return.
Kevin spent 5.5 days in the ICU and 11 days total between two hospitals.
Kevin has a Very Long road ahead with many Dr visits to Kansas City, blood tests and MRI’s over the next year.
(A little back story)
We have learned that Kevin lost his job a few months ago due to the effects of this tumor. So Kevin has been struggling for a long time and some of you may have wondered what has happened to Kevin and why was he acting and doing what the “normal” Kevin from years past wouldn’t normally act like or do. Why was he withdrawn from his family and friends? The Dr confirmed that Kevin had not been himself and was indeed being controlled by this tumor and even wrote a letter for Kevin to present to his former employer. Since the tumor has been removed we can see Kevin’s personality and actions was in fact controlled by the tumor. There are some things he doesn’t remember doing and a lot he does remember and has remorse for them all.
Because of the tumor, losing his job, being depressed and having difficulty when it comes to making decisions, Kevin hasn’t been able to pay his rent, utilities, car payments, insurance, credit cards, or buy food. Now he has the medical burdens (Dr bills, hospital bills, follow up appointments, gas to get to them all). There is a lot, it is overwhelming and really is heartbreaking to see him go through this. Many have asked me how can we help and praying is the most important thing anyone can do for someone but if any of you could help us get Kevin back on his feet, get his bills caught up and help with the medical burden of whats to come, he will be forever grateful!
Whatever money that is gifted will be to get all his bills caught up from months of not being paid and stay in good standing until he can work again. To feed him and pay for gas to and from all these visits. To pay for any medical bills to come. These funds are needed quickly as he is in default of everything.
