Hi, my name is Kevin Isaacs, and I am a final-year student at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, pursuing a triple major in Economics, Politics, and Philosophy.

I come from a low-income, rural background and was raised by a single mother. In 2020, I lost my mother to COVID-19, and since then I have taken on responsibility for supporting my three younger brothers while continuing my studies.

Throughout my degree, I have worked consistently to support myself and my family. I have sold food on campus, worked as a waiter, and taken shifts at a call centre. Balancing work and academics has been challenging, but I have remained committed to completing my degree.

As I enter my final year, I am currently facing a financial block due to outstanding university fees, which prevents me from registering. I must clear this balance and register before 20 February 2026 to continue my studies.

Part of my outstanding fees has already been covered through external support, and I am deeply grateful for this assistance. The total amount owed to the university is approximately R220,000 (about $12,000). After accounting for the support already secured and contributions received so far, there remains a shortfall of approximately R130,000–R135,000 (about $7,000–$7,500) that must be cleared to lift the registration block.

Universities like Stellenbosch are gateways to opportunity, yet many capable students are excluded simply because they cannot clear upfront fees. Clearing this shortfall will allow me to register, complete my final year, and graduate. With my degree, I aim to work in economic and diplomatic analysis, building long-term stability for my family and continuing to support my younger brothers.
