HELP OUR FAMILY BEAT LUNG CANCER

Hello my name is Josh, a few months ago I received a phone call from my mom, Valerie, that would change our families lives for the foreseeable future. She explained to me that her husband Kevin, who has been a father figure in my life since I was in the 5th grade, discovered a tumor in his left lung. As you’d expect, fear and uncertainty have been at the forefront of our emotions ever since; probably more so for Kevin, who’s mother died from Lung Cancer years ago.
Kevin and Valerie own and operate a small jewelry and accessory boutique in Destin, Florida. They do not have any employees (other than the occasional assistance from my 12 year old brother Julian) and create all of the custom jewelry and woodwork by hand. The hands on approach of the business presents an obstacle for them moving forward. Recently Kevin has learned that the tumor is stage 3 Non Small Cell Carcinoma and has been given 2 options; undergo surgery to remove the lung, or use chemotherapy treatment. Both of these options present their share of pros and cons, however the common denominator is that Kevin will be down for months, leaving my mother to run and manage the business with no help, while also being the primary caregiver for Kevin and their youngest son. All of this comes a year after they evacuated their home in Panama City, Fl due to Hurricane Michael.
I’m starting this go fund me in hopes to alleviate at least the financial burden placed on my family during this time. Kevin has been under constant medical care since the diagnosis and will make a decision this week on which treatment option to utilize. Co-pays have been high and emotions have been even higher, between treatment costs and the inability to work, finances have been close to depleted.
My family has always managed to get by with hard work and persistence so asking for help wasn’t an easy decision to make, however, time is of the essence. Kevin’s condition is getting worse and doctors have confirmed that the cancer is growing. We are asking for help in anyway possible. Whether that means a $1 donation or a $10 donation, anything helps.
