Hi everyone,
My name is Kevin Araya. I am a loving husband to my wife Ale, an HR professional, and a CrossFit adaptive athlete. I live with a degenerative disability called Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis that affects my gait, balance, and coordination. This condition has challenged me in ways I did not expect and has changed the way I see life.
I realized that if I wanted to improve the quality of my life, I needed to see my limitations and challenges as opportunities. This, of course, is easier said than done, but I made a commitment to push myself and to step out of my comfort zone.
So, with my wife’s support, I found in CrossFit a vehicle to work towards my goals. I started to work out regularly, improved my eating and sleeping habits, among other self-improvement actions.
Fast forward to the present, I achieved a major goal of mine by qualifying for the Adaptive CrossFit Games in the Major-Neuro category, and while I am thrilled about this, I realized this came with a hefty price—talk about challenges—to cover the registration fee, airfare, hotel, and transportation.
This is why I am creating this GoFundMe, to support my goal of participating in the Adaptive CrossFit Games. Every contribution will be greatly appreciated.
We will also sell custom-made shirts in case you want to contribute in that way. The shirts will feature the phrase “Mind Over Body” that represents the way I feel about any challenge I may face in life.
I thank you in advance for your support from the bottom of my heart.
Respectfully,
Kev
