Dear Friends, Family, Fellow Alumni, and Supporters,
We are reaching out for your support in fundraising for our dear friend, Kevin Liang, as he undergoes cancer treatment. Kevin is a bright, passionate individual whose enthusiasm shines in everything he does—whether in film studies, video games, or creative projects. His resilience and positivity have always inspired those around him.
During a routine checkup, Kevin was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B-cell Lymphoma (PMBCL), a rare cancer affecting young adults. The tumor around his lungs impacts his breathing and daily life. In January 2025, he began chemotherapy. Encouragingly, the tumor shrank from 15 cm to 11 cm after the first round. He has now completed his second round, and we eagerly await further results.
Kevin graduated from Shanghai Singapore International School in 2018 and later pursued a film degree at NYU Shanghai. The COVID-19 pandemic placed immense financial strain on his family. After graduating, he put his filmmaking dreams on hold, working tirelessly—often six to seven days a week—to support his father and grandmother, his only immediate family. Now, with his diagnosis, he is unable to work and remains in and out of the hospital.
Despite facing various challenges, Kevin remains strong and optimistic. However, as a family dealing with cancer, we are struggling with the ever-increasing medical expenses. The first six rounds of Kevin 's chemotherapy alone cost more than 700,000 RMB. His attending physician, Dr. Yan Hua, initially recommended six to eight rounds of chemotherapy. Upon completing 6 rounds of Chemotherapy and a mid-term assessment, Dr. Yan Hua's decided to transition into the next phase of treatment centering proton radiotherapy, which costs 170,000 RMB. Subsequent evaluation will decided the next phase of treatment, which would likely be immunotherapy. Thanks to the generosity of kind friends, we have secured the necessary funds for his medical treatment from the second to the sixth rounds. However, we are in urgent need of more support to cover the ongoing proton radiotherapy and hospitalization expenses.
Thanks to generous friends, we have secured funding for his second and third rounds, but more support is urgently needed for upcoming treatments and hospital fees.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will provide much-needed relief and help Kevin stay on track with treatment. Your support will directly fund his fourth round of chemotherapy upcoming in the next month and any further treatments.
This fundraiser is organized by close friends from his high school community. Since many of Kevin’s friends and fellow alumni live abroad, we are reaching out internationally. Every donation will go directly toward his medical care in China, and we will continue providing updates. If you are visiting Shanghai and know Kevin personally, we encourage you to reach out—patients in China rely heavily on family and friends, and your presence would mean the world to him.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Let’s come together to help Kevin in his fight against cancer.
