Help Kevin Bailey Rebuild His Life

Meet Kevin Bailey
I recently met Kevin a 50-year-old resilient man who has faced an unimaginable series of challenges. Kevin has been living on and off the streets for the past year trying to make ends meet. Life has been incredibly hard, especially as the cold New York winters set in. He has tried living in shelters but found them to be unsafe which brought him back to where he is now.
Unfortunately, without health insurance or a stable living situation, he has been living for months without access to the medication he desperately needs. He suffers from severe pain in his feet and legs, conditions that could, be managed with proper care. Without an address or resources, accessing consistent medical care has been nearly impossible. Kevin has also endured extensive dental issues that require urgent attention.
Born in Los Angeles, Kevin then moved to Merrick, NY with his mother, father, older brother and older sister. Tragically they were all killed in an accident while Kevin was a young child. He was put into foster care with a family in Washington DC for the remainder of his childhood. When he became of age, he worked for years in construction, providing for himself and maintaining his independence but in 2020, like so many others, Kevin’s life was upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. After being laid off, Kevin lost his apartment and moved back to New York, hoping for better opportunities. Instead, he was met with more hardship. With no family or support system—Kevin has been left to navigate these challenges alone.
How I’ve Helped Kevin So Far
Over the past few months, I’ve taken small steps to assist Kevin. I brought him basic survival items like food, socks, clothing, a jacket, boots, a blanket, toiletries, and a foldable camping chair. Initially, Kevin resisted accepting these items, saying he didn’t want a handout. Kevin is not a drug user or alcoholic but a proud, polite, and humble man.
For Christmas, I arranged for him to stay in a local hotel for a few nights so he could shower and rest and escape the bitter chill. When he checked out, I was thrilled to see him wearing some of the clothes I had given him. Accepting help hasn’t been easy for him, but after months of trust-building, Kevin has agreed to let us rally support on his behalf.
The Kevin Project
Helping Kevin is just the beginning. Once Kevin’s needs are met, my family plans to launch “The Kevin Project,” a nonprofit initiative to support others in similar situations. By supporting Kevin today, you’re contributing to a movement that can bring hope and change to many others.
Despite his circumstances, Kevin remains hopeful for a better future. However, he urgently needs help to make that happen.
How You Can Help
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to provide Kevin with:
1. Immediate Access to Medication: Covering costs for prescriptions and necessary medical and dental appointments.
2. Temporary Housing: A safe place where he can rest and begin to plan for a more stable future during his transition to independence.
3. Basic Necessities: Food, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
4. Support Services: Assistance with job applications and connecting Kevin to programs that can help him find long-term stability.
Consider contributing to help reach our goal of $50,000. Every donation, no matter the size, brings Kevin one step closer to stability and health. Please consider sharing this campaign to help spread the word.
Thank You
Your kindness and compassion mean the world to Kevin, my family, and me. We will keep you updated on Kevin’s journey. Together, we can give Kevin the second chance he so deeply deserves.
