Imagine being eight years old, practicing gymnastics with one of your best friends, not knowing you're building a friendship that will span decades. That's how my story with Colleen began. She met her sweet husband Kevin in high school - a love story that blossomed into marriage and three beautiful children. Rooted in their strong Christian faith, they're the kind of family that makes you believe in genuine goodness - always the first to help others, their home filled with laughter, kindness, and devotion.
But in 2019, their world shifted when Kevin was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer. Through grueling chemotherapy and surgery, they fought and won that first battle, emerging with renewed hope and unwavering faith. However, 2023 brought devastating news: cancer had returned in a different form. As they navigated treatments - with Kevin quarantined from his family for 10 days after each session due to nuclear medications - they received the heartbreaking news that the original pancreatic cancer had resurfaced, a rare and challenging development that shook them to their core. Through it all, their faith has remained their anchor. Kevin's recent battle with sepsis after his first round of new treatment led to a lengthy hospitalization, and he's now fighting through his second round of chemotherapy with the same spirit and trust in God that has guided their journey.
Colleen has stepped away from her career to become a full-time caregiver, focusing entirely on Kevin and their children during this overwhelming journey. Anyone who has met the family knows they embody the very best of Christian values - their generosity, faith, and warmth touching countless lives in our community. Now, as they face mounting medical bills during what should be a joyful holiday season, it's our turn to show them the same kindness they've always shown others.
Your support - whether through a home-cooked meal or a financial contribution - could lift some of the weight from their shoulders. Let's come together this holiday season to support this remarkable family, allowing them to focus on what matters most: Kevin's recovery and precious time together. In doing so, we can be an answer to prayers and demonstrate God's love in action.
