After carefully saving enough money to buy their own home, Kevin and Alexys found the house they were looking for and bought it. With excitement, they began moving in, eager to start this new chapter. A few days into the process, they arrived to find the ground had collapsed on their newly purchased land. It was a true case of “The earth suddenly split open beneath their feet” and threatened to swallow them whole, financially, if not physically. Being that the city deemed their home unsafe for occupancy, the insurance covered only a portion of the exorbitant repair cost, and no one would buy a house that comes with a sinkhole, Kevin and Alexys had no choice but to get the work done to secure the house - which left them saddled with an added outrageous debt.

This amount of bad luck can happen to anyone, and we choose to see it as a chance to show solidarity, and pride to be part of a caring community. No amount is too small when combined with others - together we can make a huge difference.
