Help Kevin & Alyson Have A Baby!
Life is a series of adventures, and from the start, we signed up for all those adventures together. These adventures have helped build a strong foundation for our relationship and have provided tons of memories. The thing about adventures though, not all of them are the greatest. Adventures? Yes. Fun? Not always. But we've tackled these adventures together and that's helped when the road gets rough.
Since we first met, we knew we wanted to have children. A family was the next big adventure for us to explore. And it has been quite the adventure thus far. Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to and you have to do a little extra work. In order to obtain our family, we, and science, have had to do that extra work.
After our wedding in November 2019, we did what most newlyweds do... tried to have a family immediately. We tried, and tried and tried, (you get the point) and failed, and failed, and failed. In January 2021, we decided to seek help from a fertility clinic and began working with the best doctors imaginable. That’s where our infertility journey began. We have been seeing our Dr. for five cycles now and have had four failed IUIs.
With the four failed IUIs we now move on to the next leg of our infertility journey. With our next cycle, we are moving to the more invasive and more costly IVF. While IVF still isn't a guarantee, because even science isn't perfect, it does up our chances of getting pregnant to a very hopeful 60-70%. The process includes a ton of appointments, daily injections, and two surgeries for Alyson, who has been an absolute warrior since this journey started. The hope is that all of these appointments, shots, and surgeries ends with a miracle. Our baby.
While this has been a struggle, a wrench thrown into our adventure plans, we've tried to stay optimistic and hopeful. We have each other and we've used that as the shoulder to lean on in the toughest moments of this process. We're now looking to ask for additional shoulders.
Listen, we understand that life is pretty crazy right now. Everyone has something going on. The world is still getting over a pandemic. But wouldn't a post-pandemic Carey baby be awesome?! That would teach the virus.
More seriously, the process of IVF is incredibly expensive, and while we can cover a solid amount of the treatments we are going to need assistance which is why we're coming to you now and asking you, "help us have a baby through science. Please."
We wish we could promise you more with your gifts. Alyson has said that we can't have an open forum for miracle baby naming rights. And there is no step where if you give a certain amount that you get to come to a doctor visit with us. Maybe you can give Alyson a shot, but we'll see about that. But that doesn't mean your gift won't amount to anything.
You'll be helping us have a child (knock on wood) and that's something we'll never be able to thank you enough for.
Anything you're able to give will be greatly appreciated, and if that just happens to be well wishes then we appreciate those too. This is the first leg of our next adventure, and while this one wasn't planned, it's an important one. We literally couldn't do this without the love and support from our family and friends.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. We hope to keep you updated with good news soon. We love you all.
