Help Kev Benger and His Family Fight Cancer

We’re reaching out to ask for your support during the most challenging time in our lives. Our beloved Dad, Kev Benger, is battling stage 4 cancer that has affected his tongue, throat, and lung. This devastating illness has turned our world upside down and we need your help.

Kev is a true Aussie battler. He’s the kind of man who would literally give you the shirt off his back, something I remember him actually attempting to do when I was a kid. He’s hardworking, selfless, and proud. He would never ask for help himself, even now, which is why we’re stepping up for him.

For the past year, Dad hasn’t been able to work. As a self-employed sole income earner for the household, this has taken a massive financial toll on our family. The medical bills from chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy are growing every week. On top of that, we would like to get him an adjustable bed to help with the severe discomfort he feels lying flat, which causes coughing and fluid buildup he can’t swallow due to radiation damage. Right now, quality sleep, (something essential for healing), is nearly impossible for him.

An adjustable bed to improve Dad’s sleep and recovery

Living expenses as Mum and Dad try to stay afloat without income

My younger brother Steve recently completed the necessary training to take over Dad’s work, and he’s been slowly catching up on the enormous backlog of jobs from the past year. But things are still incredibly tight and stressful.

For those who know our family, you’ll know how much Dad sacrificed for us growing up. We didn’t have much money, but we never went without. For years, Dad would wake up at 3am to do the morning bread run for Tip Top, then head straight into a full day working in the aerobic septic industry, before racing home to take us to cricket or rugby. He would be out of the house for 16 hours a day without complaint, all to give us the best shot in life.

It’s hard to see someone so strong, so generous, now struggling with something so cruel. Even harder is watching him lose his ability to speak because as you all know he loves nothing more than a good yarn with his mates down at the pub.

This is our chance to give back to someone who gave us everything. Any donation, no matter how small, will help ease the burden and allow Dad to focus on what matters most: fighting this disease and spending time with the people who love him.
