Last year I hiked in and around a tiny village called Ketambe in Sumatra. The people there treat you like family all while protecting the jungle and its endangered inhabitants . They’re the kind of people who would give a shirt off their back, or what little they have, and never ask for anything in return. They’re golden people.

Devastatingly, right now they’re going through a difficult time with half the town lost to a river flood. Homes and land, possessions, gone.

They aren’t as lucky as us when it comes to government support and are dealing with this entirely alone.

To help, I’m running a small fundraiser to get immediate funds directly into the hands of my good friend Dieuwertje at Pondok Wisata Guesthouse in Ketambe to support the families who’ve lost everything (30 homes/families so far).

Pondok Wisata Guesthouse in Ketambe is a trusted, long-standing family-run guesthouse that has been at the centre of the community for decades. They will distribute the funds to families most affected by the floods, helping with:

• Replacing essential items lost in the water

• Food, clean water, and basic supplies

• Emergency shelter

• Support for children and elderly villagers

• Basic possessions

Ketambe is a remote place with few resources, but it is also a place full of love, resilience, and community. Even a small donation goes a long way here and can directly change a family’s life.
