My name is Kestrel and I’m a struggling single parent living in Florida. I’m queer, nonbinary & disabled & live with my two cats, a turtle, and my elderly dog and my teenage son. This fund raiser is for my dog, Bella.

Bella is the daughter of a previous dog I had with my ex-husband and she is my Emotional Support Animal. I have had her since she was born. My hands were the first to ever touch her, and we’ve had a close bond her whole life. She has helped me through some of the darkest times in my life, been raised beside my teenage son who she views as a litter mate, and is one of the best dogs I’ve ever known. Unfortunately, she is about 12 years old now, and has been going downhill for a while. She has had a disabled leg for several years, but over the last few months it’s gotten harder and harder for her to stand even on her remaining good legs. She has arthritis in her back, her bad leg pains her, and she has developed hip dysplasia. She has lost so much weight for unknown reasons, and has gall bladder disease as well. Just recently she’s started to act confused on walks & fall even more, barely able to hold herself steady to go potty.

As much as it makes me cry to think about it, it is time for me to let her go and put her out of her misery. I want to give her the gentlest ending possible. As you can see in the pictures she is a large dog. Putting her in a car is always a stressful and painful process for her now, and she suffers from severe anxiety which makes vet visits also stressful. So, I have found a local vet service that does in-home euthanasia. The cost for that is far more than I can manage as I struggle to pay my regular bills every month. So I’m asking for help with this.

Please, help me send my girl off in the gentlest way possible.
