Kerry Canankamp is one of the hardest-working employees in the town of Oakland Tennessee. She spent many, many hours each week in the very old water-damaged building that houses Parks & Rec and the Senior Center. It has been tested and found to be full of exceedingly high levels of several kinds of mold, including black mold. Kerry has gotten progressively more ill over the past 3-4 years working in this toxic environment.

So sick that she's lost 40 lbs, now at 98 lbs. She's missed some work due to being ill, going to many urgent care and doctor visits.

Yet her worker's comp claim was denied! The Town manager has privately admitted he knows it's related to her daily mold exposure for years. The Mayor tells her he can't (won't) do anything to help her.

Kerry took out a loan to see the region's leading mold physician, who said she has among the worst mold poisoning he's ever seen in his long career! And that her test results exactly match the types of mold revealed in testing her work building! And that it will take years of treatment for her to recover. She now has progressed to some cardiac symptoms.

The mold expert doctor sent all his extensive documents to the town in appealing her worker's comp claim. Meanwhile at a recent town meeting, the mayor publicly celebrated getting big bucks back in the town's coffers from unpaid claims by sick or injured town employees.

Kerry has nearly gone bankrupt paying for testing and treatment out of her own pocket, to the tune of nearly $20,000. Yet she continues to work just as hard as she can, pushing through her exhaustion and illness.
