Help Kerry Young Rebuild After Devastating Shop Fire

Donation protected
This morning I was awoken by a ton of messages and calls. The one from Kerry Young explained everything.
"Shop burned down, I'm leaving the group."

This morning at 6 am Kerry who lives in Roan Mountain, TN was awoken by a neighbor driving by to tell her they had called the fire department and her shed and horse trailer were on fire. Thankfully for Kerry no one was injured. That's the good news. The bad news she has lost everything in her shop.

I first met Kerry 3 years ago when I was moderating a large laser business's official Facebook page. She wanted to let me know about something that was going off the rails in the group. I recognized her name as someone who had spent hours in the group giving out free advice. We chatted and immediately I felt a kindred spirit, even though she admitted to driving a Jeep and I owned a new Ford Bronco. Over the next few months we chatted each day about life, kids and all things lasers. Her helpful presence in the group did not go unnoticed and soon Kerry was asked to be an official volunteer for the group. Fast forward to today and Kerry is now a Brand Ambassador traveling all around the U.S. to share her passion for laser engraving.

So you can image how shocked I was to get Kerry's message. She is overwhelmed. She has lost everything, including 4 lasers, 1 CNC, 1 3d printer, saws, planers, tools, tons of acrylic, exotic woods, blanks, computers, cameras, and printers and more.

I'm setting up this GoFundMe to give Kerry hope. To let her know the laser community does not want her to give up. To let her know this is not the end, just a bump in the road.

If you are so inclined, please consider donating so that we can get Kerry back on her feet as soon as possible. Right now is a terrible time to buy lasers and she's going to need all the help she can get. She does have insurance but does not expect it to cover most of what she has lost.

Please keep Kerry in your prayers and feel free to pass this along to anyone you know that might be willing to help Kerry. This lost affects not only her but her community as well. Through her Business Smokey Mountain Designs Kerry has also donated her time, materials and skill selling her wares to raise money for her neighbors and hometown who were tragically affected by Hurricane Helen. This is the kind of person Kerry is and who I know she would want to continue to be.

Just a note, please get approval from an admin or moderator before posting in facebook groups. Many won't allow such posts and we respect their wishes.
