hey friends,

if you don’t know my story, here’s the quick version: was 38 years old and living life! dental hygienist at an office i love, playing roller derby, having adventures with friends, with two sweet kitties to come home to in Denver CO.

bam, diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2018. an aggressive bone cancer that ended up costing me one of my leg muscles and required very harsh chemo. declared NED (no evidence of disease) after 9 months of treatment. eventually got back to living! skating, traveling, and petting any animal i could find.

May of 2022, a diagnosis of Leukemia. caused by that harsh chemo i had for the bone cancer. treatment for this (AML) requires chemo to get you into remission and then a bone marrow transplant can be a cure. first round of chemo failed. second round of chemo failed. left my hematologist in Denver and came to Houston so i could be seen at the best leukemia hospital in the world, MD Anderson- Aug 2022.

after three or four cycles of chemo, they said i was ready for transplant. with stem cells from my brother, i got my brand new baby immune system on Feb 20. it was hell, but i made it through. things were looking good.

but just three months later, (now) the disease has already relapsed.

devastated.

my doctor has a plan for a new trial, starting asap. it will allow me to go home, at least for a few weeks. but i will have to come back to Houston every two weeks for treatments, for at least six weeks.

hopefully these treatments will buy me some time until i am ready for another bone marrow transplant. right now i’m scared and i’m tired and i just want to go home. but i trust my doctor. so i’m trying to keep going.

i want to thank everyone that has helped me thus far. you have no idea what it means to me. and if you feel so inclined, i could use some help with travel funds, and just life stuff i guess. i’ve been out of work for over a year now and am still waiting on my disability to kick in. so funds are getting low.
