Keri Perna has been courageously battling cancer for over 11 years. She has a rare and aggressive form of multiple myeloma — blood cancer — and has endured every treatment imaginable: radiation, chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, immunotherapy, and even clinical trials.
Despite all this, her condition continues to worsen. The cancer is now attacking her bones, causing painful lesions on her spine. She’s experiencing severe daily pain that makes it nearly impossible to walk, even just to the kitchen. She’s also developed cysts in her eyes, significantly impairing her vision, and struggles to eat — her sense of taste is so affected that she can only tolerate baby food.
Most recently, the cancer has caused dangerously high calcium levels, leading to a serious kidney infection and a near-stroke. Doctors at the University of Pennsylvania and Yale are urgently working together to create a new treatment plan. Keri will likely be admitted to Yale soon for an intensive round of chemotherapy. However, both doctors are positive and hopeful that they can come up with a winning plan.
Due to her health, Keri was forced to resign from her job. She can no longer see clearly, sit for long periods, or focus because of the relentless pain. The financial burden has been unimaginable: her care has cost over $1 million. Keri and her husband Andy — her high school sweetheart and husband of over 30 years — have sold their home, used up their life savings, and sold nearly every asset just to keep up with her treatment.
Andy works 60+ hours a week and takes care of Keri as best as he can, but it’s simply not enough. They are physically, emotionally, and financially exhausted.
I met Keri in 2012 when we both started at SERVPRO. She immediately stood out — always smiling, full of warmth, and quickly became a dear friend. I’ve also had the joy of knowing Andy, and I’ve always admired the deep love they share. Together, they’ve raised two beautiful children, Emily and Dylan.
They are too proud to ask for help — so I’m asking for them.
If you can donate any amount — every single dollar makes a difference. Keri is a fighter. On the phone today, she told me something I’ll never forget:
"I’m OK having cancer. I can handle the pain. But I’m not ready to die."
Please help me support this incredible woman — someone who has always dropped everything to help others. Let’s show Keri and her family they’re not alone. Let’s pay it forward.
Please share this page with your friends, family, and on social media. Every share brings us closer to the help they need.
With love and gratitude,
