Help Keona Walk Again: A Second Chance at a Pain-Free Life

Hi, my name is Kristie, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart, asking for help for my sweet girl, Keona.

Keona is a 5 year-old bundle of love, energy, and joy. She’s been with me since she was just 3 months old—my companion, my comfort, my everything. I don’t have children of my own, and Keona has filled that space in my heart with so much unconditional love. She truly is my child.

A few years ago, Keona had her first ACL injury and underwent surgery. It was a long, painful road to recovery, and I was hopeful we had made it through the worst. But now, heartbreakingly, she’s torn the ligament in her other leg and needs a second surgery—another uphill battle neither of us were prepared to face again.

The cost of her surgery and the physical therapy that follows is estimated to be around $10,000. But it’s not just the financial strain—this has taken an emotional toll on me as well. I will need to take extended time off work to care for Keona during her recovery, which means I’ll have no income for a while. During this time, I won’t be able to do much other than stay home, tend to her every need, and try to hold it all together.

It’s hard to describe the level of stress and helplessness I’m feeling right now. Watching her struggle to walk, knowing she’s in pain, and feeling like I can’t give her the help she needs—it's overwhelming. She just wants to run, to bark at the birds, to play Frisbee, and to live her life. And I just want to give her that life back.
