Kenzee has been a deeply loved and steady presence in the Denver activism community for over a year. She is someone who has consistently shown up for others, organized, supported, and cared for her community even while managing severe and ongoing health challenges of her own.
Right now, she is facing a major turning point in her health. Kenzee cannot reliably eat by mouth and is dependent on a feeding tube for nutrition. Her condition affects nearly every part of daily life, including eating, speaking, sleeping, and basic physical function. Constant pain and instability have made ordinary activities nearly impossible, exhausting, and unpredictable.
Over the past year, her health has significantly worsened. She has had repeated emergency room visits and multiple hospital admissions, including at least one inpatient stay lasting over a month. She has also undergone four reconstructive surgeries, none of which resolved the underlying condition, and each was followed by continued decline rather than improvement.
After evaluation by specialists in Colorado, her case was determined to be too complex for local surgical care. Her treatment has now been transferred to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where she will receive higher level specialized care.
On June 22nd, 2026, Kenzee will undergo a major facial reconstruction surgery. This will be an approximately 12-hour operation, followed by an expected ICU stay and a prolonged hospital admission due to the complexity and risk of recovery.
Even with insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming. Because the surgery is out of state and highly specialized, costs include hospital and surgical fees, ICU and inpatient care, anesthesia, specialist teams, travel to Philadelphia, temporary lodging, and extensive post-operative recovery needs.
On top of this, Kenzee is already carrying significant medical debt from ongoing care, including emergency room visits, ambulance transportation, imaging, medications, specialist appointments, and prior hospitalizations. Her health has also made it difficult to work consistently, leading to a major loss of income during a time of rapidly increasing medical expenses.
What this fundraiser supports
- Major facial reconstruction surgery on June 22nd, 2026
- ICU care and extended hospital stay after surgery
- Feeding tube nutrition and medical supplies
- Travel and temporary lodging in Philadelphia for out-of-state care
- Outstanding medical bills from prior emergencies and hospital stays
- Medications, follow-up care, and recovery-related expenses
- Basic living costs during recovery and reduced ability to work
For the first time in a long time, this surgery offers a real chance to get at the root of what has been driving so much of her pain and loss of function. It’s not a quick fix, and recovery will be hard, but it is an opportunity to try to stop the constant downward slide and make basic things like eating, speaking, and getting through the day more possible again.
Kenzee has spent so much of her energy supporting others, even while navigating her own medical crises. Now she is facing a major out-of-state surgery, a long ICU and hospital stay, and a difficult recovery, all while trying to carry the financial weight of ongoing illness.
The surgery is scheduled for June 22nd, 2026, and support is urgently needed in the weeks leading up to it. Any help at all makes a real difference. Donations of any size, sharing this fundraiser, or simply helping spread the word all directly reduce the burden she is carrying right now.
