Help Kenya fight her battle against auto-immune disease and cancer! Kenya was diagnosed with auto-immune disease and cancer over the weekend and had to go through emergency surgery to remove a softball size tumor and her spleen, complete blood transfusions and take steroids to keep her alive. This horrible disease caught us both off-guard emotionally and financially, with treatment costs reaching nearly $10,000. Although her treatment and surgery is extremely expensive and intensive, the vets are optimistic that she will recover and I have started this page for those who would like to help us through this challenging time.
Many of you know Kenya from various stages of her life, whether it was when she was just a little puppy or during her more sophisticated adult years. Either way, everyone who meets Kenya falls in love with her from her gracious mannerisms and loving spirit. Kenya has been my best friend and soul mate for the last seven years. I adopted her from the SPCA in Fresno, CA when I was 20 years old and when she was just six weeks old.. She has slept by my side ever since. She attended UC Davis with me, lived in multiple houses full of girls, went to sorority parties, participated in movie nights, studied with us, napped with us, worked out with us and even chased away burglars trying to steal our bikes. After her college years, Kenya moved down south to enjoy the California coast by my side. She has traveled and adventured across California with me, putting her paws down in Santa Cruz, Bass Lake, Davis, the central coast, Los Angeles and San Diego. She has hiked countless trails, chased after endless tennis balls and even completed a rattle snake avoidance course. She has been with me through the best and worst times and has never left my side through the biggest challenges in my life. She has been a companion to numerous roommates, friends, and family members giving cuddles and kisses non-stop and making doggy friends along the way. She has been such a huge part in the lives of so many people and I am hoping everyone can continue being a part of her life through this fundraiser for her treatment. She is by no means in her elder years and isn’t ready to retire yet. Please help Kenya fight this battle that we both know she can win!
