Kent is a 90-year-old U.S. citizen and former engineer who has lived a quiet, honorable life.
Last year, everything changed.
Kent was undergoing heavy radiation treatment for cancer that has since spread to his liver when his home was declared uninhabitable and red-tagged. The roof collapsed, and the house ultimately had to be removed. With no safe place to live and no close family nearby, he was placed in a board-and-care facility.
While the facility provided basic care, Kent became deeply depressed. His spirit faded. Visiting him there broke my heart.
I am Kent’s neighbor, caregiver, and power of attorney. After months of watching him decline emotionally, I made the decision to bring Kent into my own home so he could live his remaining years surrounded by warmth, dignity, and genuine human care- not institutional loneliness.
Since coming to live with me, Kent’s spirits have lifted. He smiles again. He feels safe. He knows he is not alone.
Why I’m asking for help:
Caring for someone full-time at this stage of life comes with real and ongoing expenses. This fundraiser exists solely to support Kent’s care and comfort, including:
• Daily living and caregiving support
• Food and nutritional needs
• Medical-related comfort care
• Supplies that allow him to live peacefully at home
Every dollar raised goes directly toward Kent’s well-being. I am not taking a salary, and I post updates so donors can see how their kindness is helping.
Why this matters:
Kent is still a viable human being.
He still enjoys conversation, quiet moments, and feeling cared for.
He deserves to live his final chapter with dignity, not isolation.
Many people ask why I am doing this when Kent is not family.
The answer is simple: he matters.
Sometimes we are placed in someone’s life not by accident, but by responsibility and compassion.
How you can help:
If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it will directly support Kent’s care and comfort.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much and helps reach people who may be able to help.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kent’s story.
With gratitude,
Ann
I will continue to post updates here so supporters can see how Kent is doing and how funds are being used.
