We are reaching out with heavy hearts and a hopeful spirit to ask for your support in helping our beloved Kent find peace and comfort during his final journey. Kent has always been a beacon of strength, love, and kindness in our lives, and now he needs our help to ensure he spends his remaining days in the serene and supportive environment of Solvay Hospice Home.

Kent's Journey

Kent was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer in December, showing that the cancer had spread to his bones, lungs, and lymph nodes. In March, Kent stopped treatment after a scan showed that his cancer was not responding to radiation, chemo, or immunotherapy. Despite the tireless efforts of his medical team and the unwavering support of his friends and family, the disease has progressed beyond the point where curative treatment is possible. As Kent is no longer able to live alone, now, the focus is on providing Kent with the highest quality of life, free from pain and surrounded by love.

Why Solvay Hospice Home?

Solvay Hospice Home is a haven for individuals like Kent, offering compassionate care, comfort, and dignity in a home-like setting. The professional and empathetic staff provide not only medical care but also emotional and spiritual support to both patients and their families. This nurturing environment is exactly what Kent needs during this challenging time.

The Financial Challenge

Unfortunately, the cost of hospice care is overwhelming. Because Kent's insurance doesn't cover a stay at Solvay, the only hospice home in the northern Minnesota region, there are significant out-of-pocket costs that exceed our family’s financial capabilities. The estimated cost for Kent's stay at Solvay Hospice Home is $300/day, which covers his room, medical care, and support services for his final weeks or months. Any funds raised that do not go directly towards the bill for Solvay Hospice Home will be used towards his cremation services first, and if there are any leftover funds, will be donated back to Solvay Hospice Home to help other families.
