Hey everyone - I just evacuated New Orleans due to Hurricane Ida, and on the way I passed a dog who had clearly been dumped on the side of the highway. He is absolutely precious, but severely emaciated and needed help. Long story short, we are in Dallas now and just got back from the vet. The good news is, other than being an underweight senior dog, he seems to be in decent health! If he is taken care of, he can live out his golden years with the comfort he has never known but so obviously deserves. The bad news is that it cost a pretty penny to have him vaccinated, cleaned up, expressed, fed, suited with a functional leash and harness, etc...and he still needs to be neutered (which I will attempt to do at super low cost through a non-profit, but it's a logistical nightmare with the hurricane). Ordinarily I would just cover these costs myself, given that I totally took it upon myself to do all of this; however, the costs associated with evacuating coupled with having just purchased this semester's law textbooks have left me really strapped. If anyone is willing and able to donate, it would mean the word to me. Regardless, I will keep everyone apprised of Kenny's status (I named him Kenny because I found him in Kenner, Louisiana) as I await his bloodwork and bring him back to the New Orleans area as soon as possible. If you are wondering why I have not just given him to a shelter, it is because his likelihood of adoption and adequate care are extremely low - so I will be personally ensuring that he goes to a wonderful home that will give him the life he deserves. Thank you all!!!
