Help Kenny Evans Continue Life-Saving Treatment in Japan

There are moments in life when someone who has always been there for others suddenly needs help fighting their own battle. This is one of those moments. Kenny went to Japan for a 2-week experimental lifesaving treatment, and his condition was such that it was required for him to be treated for 5 weeks to buy more time.

My name is Steve Johnson, and I’ve known Kenny Evans for over 40 years. He’s not just a lifelong friend—he’s one of the best people I know. He is a husband of 14 years and a father to a 5-year-old son who needs him. His family has stood by him through every step of this journey, and now they need support.

Kenny is the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. He has spent years showing up for others, often in ways most people never see. In fact, during Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Kenny made national news after personally rescuing multiple families from their homes during the flooding. That’s who he is at his core—someone who runs toward people in need, not away from them.

Today, Kenny and his family need our assistance.

After experiencing a severe and unexpected health crisis, he is now in Japan receiving specialized medical treatment that is not readily available in the United States. This has been an ongoing battle for over 5 years, and while there have been setbacks, there is also real hope with this new experimental treatment he is receiving in Japan..

The good news—and something we are incredibly grateful for—is that Kenny is fighting, and he is improving. But the road ahead is still long, and the financial burden has become overwhelming.

With years of trying every experimental treatment, medical care, doctors, hospitals, labs, travel, extended stays, and ongoing medical, hospital and doctor care in Houston and Japan, the medical costs have rapidly escalated over the course of this fight to survive for his family—and they continue to grow. There will be more additional health care costs when he gets home as well.

We are starting this fundraiser with an initial goal of $50,000 to help relieve some of the immediate financial pressure, with the understanding that this number may be adjusted as we gain a clearer picture of the total medical costs ahead.

Funds raised will go toward:
- Ongoing medical treatment in Japan
- Travel and lodging expenses
- Recovery and rehabilitation
- Supporting his family during this time

Transparency matters deeply to us.

This fundraiser is being organized by Steve Johnson, and all funds will go directly to Kenny and his family to ensure they are used specifically for medical and recovery-related expenses. We are committed to providing updates as his treatment progresses.

Now it’s our turn to show up for Kenny. If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much.

Thank you for your support, your prayers, and for standing with Kenny and his family during this fight.
