My name is Olivia. I’m coming here with a very heavy heart trying to help my friends Kenny & Scarlet Rose, who is a 7-year-old Akita needing life-saving surgery. Kenny rescued Scarlet off the streets of downtown Cincinnati 4 years ago. Kenny suffered a broken back in 2000 after a fall at work from 2 stories up. Not only is he disabled, he’s also a senior citizen on a fixed income of under $1000 monthly. Despite Kenny living every day in constant pain for the last 25 years, his love for Scarlet grows deeply.
Early summer, he and Scarlet were on a walk and she stepped on a piece of metal and cut her paw. She’s been to 3 different vets to have it looked at and each cleaned and drained it. Unfortunately, the infection has gotten dramatically worse. The tissue is necrotic and the infection is spreading and causing her too much pain to bear much weight on it. The vet has suggested amputation to stop the spread of the infection from eventually going to her bones and or organs that ultimately will take her life.
She still has quality of life eating and playing with her collection of stuffies she absolutely loves. Euthanasia is not warranted at this time. Kenny is not in the financial position to cover the costs. He lives alone with Scarlet being his only companion and best friend. Without this surgery, his only other option will be humane euthanasia, which would be so unfair to end her life because of lack of funds.
Any funds raised will go to her surgery, medications, and aftercare.
Tennessee Ave Animal Hospital located in Cincinnati, Ohio will be providing her surgery and aftercare if the funds can be raised. Time is of the essence.
I am asking everyone who takes the time to read this, please share, pray for Scarlet, and donate if you’re inclined to help. No amount is too small and is appreciated beyond words.
Thank you in advance!
