On June 14th, my 23-year-old son Kenny was in a devastating dirtbike accident. His head took the full impact of the crash, and doctors told me he had only a 30% chance of survival. Despite the odds, I never lost hope that Kenny would come back to us. Six weeks later, he fully woke up. He spent time in both acute and subacute rehab facilities, but after experiencing severe neglect in the subacute center, we made the decision to bring him home to his girlfriend and baby. By the grace of God, Kenny is healing—he no longer needs a trach or a feeding tube, and every day he makes progress.

Kenny’s recovery journey is far from over. He now needs 24-hour care and intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. One of Kenny’s biggest goals is to be able to hold and care for his 8-month-old baby again. Unfortunately, the outpatient rehab that offers the best chance for his recovery does not accept insurance, and the costs are overwhelming. We have completed the intake process, and the therapists believe they can help Kenny make great strides in his healing. All funds raised will go directly to pay for his therapy. When Kenny no longer needs therapy, any remaining funds will be paid forward to another brain injury survivor in need.
