Hi everyone, my Dad is currently in the process of waiting on a heart transplant. Over the past five years he has had a heart attack and two strokes that left him legally blind and unable to drive. Most recently he went into stage three heart failure and was admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida where they diagnosed him with systolic, diastolic, and congestive heart failure. A team of doctors are working with him through this and are doing everything they can with his heart to strengthen it but have started the process to transplant. It will be six months to a year before the transplant and will require frequent appointments and procedures until then. The costs associated with these appointments, procedures, surgery, travel, and retrofitting his home for handicap accessibility will be more than he will be able to cover.
