I’m Kenneth, and I’m asking for help to stay in my family home in Southeast Chicago. After spending time as my mother’s caregiver, then having my own health issues that landed me in the hospital. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I had a hard time finding consistent work, I worked gig jobs until I couldn’t anymore. I fell behind on the mortgage for the home I now live in. This has been a very difficult and humbling situation. Like many people, I’ve been doing my best to recover and move forward, but getting caught up has been a real challenge.

I have been working to rebuild by restarting my tech business and I have a part time job to survive for the moment. I’m doing everything I can to create stability again, and support from this fundraiser would help me catch up on the mortgage so I can retain the family home and have a stronger foundation going forward. Keeping this home would mean so much to me, not only for my own stability, but because it keeps me rooted in the community I care about deeply.

I’ve long been involved in Southeast Chicago through the Bowen Alumni Association Inc., the Bessemer Park Advisory Council, Crossroads Collaborative, South Chicago QLP, and the South Works Coalition. Serving my neighborhood and supporting local people has always mattered to me. If you’re able to give, share, or offer encouragement, I would be truly grateful.
