My name is Kenn, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing one of the toughest times of my life. I recently lost my job at Wegmans, and while I’ve been searching nonstop for a replacement, I was denied unemployment and food stamps. I finally found a new job, but it’s not paying enough to help me catch up on everything I owe, and my rent is coming due fast.

To make things even more challenging, my dog got pregnant right before I lost my job—worst timing ever—and now I have a house full of puppies to care for. I’m terrified I won’t be able to make rent, and I haven’t paid my electric bill this month, which is coming up again soon. I also just ran out of heating oil, so my house is freezing. I do have a space heater for the puppies, but it’s only good for that one room. I’m doing everything I can to keep us all safe and warm, but it’s overwhelming.

I just need some help getting back on track while I wait to start getting paid from my new jobs. I have an interview for a second job soon, but by then I’ll be so backed up that it won’t help much in the short term. This is completely embarrassing and overwhelming for me—I’ve tried so hard to do this without asking for help, but I’m out of options. I’m even willing to work for anyone who needs a babysitter or help with cleaning, etc. I’d be forever grateful to anyone who helps out, and I promise I will never allow myself to get into this situation again.
