Our dear friend Kendra is facing a nightmare no one should have to go through — and she needs our help.

After five years in her first home, Kendra has been forced to leave because of a severe black mold infestation that’s made her place completely unsafe to live in. Around the same time, a major roof leak exposed even worse plumbing and structural problems in the building.

To make matters worse, none of the damage or displacement caused by the black mold is covered by insurance. The building’s emergency fund has run dry, and while there’s a class action lawsuit underway, it could take years before she sees a dime.

Right now, Kendra has to somehow cover:

Her mortgage and home expenses for a place she can’t even live in,

A temporary rental so she has somewhere safe to stay, and

Co-ownership repair fees to help fix the building.

It’s all coming out of pocket and the costs are piling up fast.

Her and her adorable little wiener dogs have spent nearly a decade in St-Henri, pouring her heart into the community — supporting local businesses, helping neighbours, and lifting people up. Every year, she puts on a neighbourhood block party out of her own pocket, bringing people together to celebrate local artists and raise money for community programs.

She’s always the one organizing, showing up, and giving back. Now, she’s the one who needs us.
