On the eve of Dec. 10, 2021, my husband, out on a simple errand to our local Sprout’s Market was in a near fatal collision resulting in catastrophic injuries to his spine, neck, and brain.

A criminal drug dealer and meth trafficker, now serving a 30 yr. prison sentence in Florida, ran a red light at an intersection, slamming into my husband’s car and inexorably ripping our lives apart.

Over the last 4 years we have been through trauma after trauma fighting for my husband’s survival. With health setbacks and complications, to ER and hospital visits, to procedures and to surgery which caused a partial paralysis resulting in the inability to walk, to using endless amounts of our money, this has been a terrifying journey.

We are both senior citizens and live a very modest lifestyle. Over the last 3 ½ years I have been a full time caregiver and my concerns are always will we have enough to pay for the medical supplies and help that we need to keep him home as long as we possibly can.

My husband Ken and I have been married for 49 beautiful years. We are both retired music teachers, sharing our love of music, with students and audiences throughout Southern California for a combined 60 years.

My husband spent 40 years of his life teaching students of all ages. From elementary to college level students, he relished in spreading his love of music bringing joy to countless individuals. Not only a teacher, but a performer and conductor as well, he played in orchestras for holiday celebrations, concerts, and festivals across Southern California. He was even planning to perform at holiday concerts the very month of his accident.

Music was his life! And until the night of the accident, he had continued spreading the joy of music by working as a substitute music teacher. His calling was to teach and he loved his job.

Now, we are battling to give my husband a fighting chance to regain his mobility and functionality during his golden years allowing him to return to the life that he loved so much.

At this time we are reaching out to the GoFundMe community, our friends, family, neighbors, and fellow music lovers asking for help in paying our ever increasing medical bills. From the cost of supplies, to nursing assistance and upcoming medical procedures, we are on a retired teacher’s fixed income and are in dire need of combating these crippling medical costs that continue to weigh us down. We are asking our neighbors for help and would welcome and appreciate any generosity that the community can give. We would be so very grateful for any assistance.

Thank you so much for your time.
