Help Spurbeck's Family Rebuild

Hello!!! My name is Crystal and this GoFundMe is on behalf of my parents.

There is an old saying “when it rains it pours” and unfortunately that is what is happening to my family.

After several months of recovery for my father, who had an almost fatal accident in 2023, over coming the odds and returning home, Ken Spurbeck is finally walking with a cane. This is wonderful, and all of us are so immensely grateful for this recovery. Things were finally starting to move forward in the direction that we all were so desperately praying for over the last six months. Life was slowly getting back to “normal”

That came crashing down on Monday, April 22nd when a fire erupted from their basement. Thankful, my parents and brother, along with their dogs, are all okay. However, their beloved birds did perish. I cannot even describe that feeling to get a phone call like that. “The house is on fire”. You never EVER think it will happen to you or your family.

We are so very thankful for to the Stillman Valley, Byron, Oregon and other local fire departments that responded quickly and contained the fire. It is truly because of their efforts the house did not burn to the ground.

Even though the fire was contained there is significant damage. Most of the house will need replacing or repair. Currently, my parents and brother are displaced as they cannot occupy the home in this state. They will need to rent an apartment nearby for several months as work on rebuilding is going on. This will involve furnishing it, and extra bills that were not planned. Of course, they need to purchase food, general medical care, gas for travel that isn’t expected…. The list keeps going.

This place is so much more than “a house” for my sisters, brother, my children, my nephews and many many others. The wonderful memories, laughs and years of love ebb from it.

This GoFundMe is to help with financial offsets that may exceed their current finances as they attempt to restore.
