Hi, My name is Ken Rockas a lifelong surfer and owner of a surfboard repair business serving northern and central California. I have been active as a fundraiser and volunteer for many charities including taking disabled children out for surfing adventures. I gladly spent countless hours traveling, organizing and participating in many events.

I recently had surgery to remove  malignant tumors from my eye, ear and leg that turned out to be quite extensive. Half of my ear is gone and a good sized tumor was removed near my thigh. I was not informed of or prepared for the results that came about from the surgeries including an unexpected hospital stay and inability to resume working in my business as I had been lead to believe. I have also been undergoing treatments for intense vertigo and chronic pain (which are constant) from Meniere's disease and vestibular migraines which have been both costly and ineffective. 

I have Medicare health insurance plus supplemental coverage but it won't be enough to cover my hospital and surgical expenses or time away from work. The recovery period is much longer than expected and I am unable to work without the full use of my eyes as my vision is blocked due to swelling and infection from surgery. I have to be able to see fine details in order to perform the work that I do. My right ear is still painful and prone to infection from the sanding and fiberglassing processes. 

The cancer removal from deep within my ear has been operated on 3 times and I was just informed that the recent surgery DID NOT get all of the cancer and the reconstructed ear will need to be removed completely so as to prevent it from spreading to my brain. This means more surgery and further time away from my business. 

 If you would please help me by donating to my Go Fund Me account I would appreciate it more than you can possibly know no matter how small the amount is. I was not  prepared for any of these developments by the Drs as it was presented to me as an afternoon of surgery and then go home for a few days rest. Had I known I would've made arrangements for home care and better financial preparation. This is very humbling for me as I would  really rather give than receive. I didn't let my disability sideline me and keep me from working. I powered through it all including never feeling well and fighting through some scary symptoms

I have also rehabbed my heart from a near death experience (going into a coma) where I was recusitated many times. I have brought my heart to a place of almost complete healing through diet, medications, surgery and a rigorous 6 day a week work out schedule.   

Unfortunately I can only do so much through my own efforts and now need some help from others. Thank you so much in advance.
