My name is Ron Logan and I'm raising funds for my good friend Ken Thomas. I have known Ken for 43 years. Ken is one of the most talented musicians I have ever known. Back in the 1980s Ken had already written a ton of music, including a "symphony" and other rock-genre pieces (think Jeff Beck meets Jethro Tull meets Aaron Copland with a twist of Steve Gadd). He always pursued his musical career to the best of his abilities and always hoped to catch a break one day.
Well, he was on the road to making a living in the music industry when a medical diagnosis put his journey on a very long hiatus. Ken was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Over the decades he has tried different MS treatments and he has finally reignited the fire to once again create music. And he has quite a backlog of musical ideas waiting in his brain to come to fruition.
But after all these years, he is kinda starting from scratch. While he has been blowing the dust off his deadened keys and rusty strings, he is realizing his need for some updated gear. This is where we come in. Ken needs some new musical gear so he can start composing again. He will also need some cash for studio time to record, and for transportation to and from his home to the studio.
His wish list includes:
- Roland Juno D-6 Synthesizer (~$1000)
- Music software such as Avid Pro Tools (~$300 per year)
- Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (80 OHM) headphones (~$180)
- Studio time (~$100 per hour)
- Lyft/Über rides (~$20 per trip)
Ken hopes to compose some film scores specifically. He volunteered at a studio where Hans Zimmer composed and hopes to pick up a bit of that Zimmerdust. Ken wants to write some music and send to filmmakers to use in student films and other projects. Ideally he would connect with an up-and-coming director to collaborate on some film endeavors.
How amazing it will be to hear the music that Ken creates with our help. Please consider being an investor in his future. All contributors at or above the $50 will receive a music CD or digital download of his new music as soon as it is final and ready.
A special "THANK YOU" to Sonia Soleno for shooting the photos of Ken for this fundraising campaign.
