Help Ken and Jan Rebuild After Flood Damage
Donation protected
My name is Pam Knudson. I am raising funds for some dear friends who also happen to be church family and co-workers, Ken and Jan Patton. These two are faithful, loving givers. Ken is a retired pastor, and together he and Jan pastored a congregation for 30 years. During that time they and their 5 children became a foster family to more than 100 youth. Both Jan annd Ken are technically retired; however, they still faithfully serve the church they now attend. Ken is an Elder; Jan is a part-time church office employee. Ken, in his 80’s, and Jan, in her 70’s, live mostly on Ken’s military retirement/disability income and their Social Security. So here is why I am setting up this GoFundMe account.
Several days ago, the Roseburg area experienced some pretty substantial flooding. Ken and Jan’s home, which also houses their daughter, son-in-law and three granddaughters, was damaged by the flood. The basement is unlivable. They have flood insurance but there is a $5,000 deductible. Then they were told that they had to wait for FEMA to come out to inspect the damage. So they waited for them to get to Oregon from Atlanta, only to be told that they found asbestos downstairs and that no work can be done until an abatement team can come to their home, a very expensive process in itself. Insurance will also not replace all personal items that were destroyed. I think it would be a wonderful gift to them if we could raise $20,000 to help them recover from the flood. (Important to note: last year the upstairs in their house was damaged by a kitchen fire. Their displacement took a terrible toll on their physical and mental health). This situation will not be any easier. Maybe supporting them with some funding would ease their hearts, help reduce their worry about how everything will be repaired and replaced and get them back into their home quickly.
